‘A group that reads is a group that studies’, proposed by Bulegoa z/b

4pm / Bulegoa z/b, Bilbao / Session eight, ‘The Book to Come’ – Reading Group.

It was a year ago that The Book to Come reading group began our meetings. During the time we have been together, we’ve been reading and carefully looking at five books by Marcel Broodthaers which were chosen by Filiep Tacq. We invited different people to help us by directing each session: Mónica Carballas, Discoteca Flaming Star, Isidoro Valcárcel Medina, Menchu Gutiérrez, Karl Larsson, and Olivier Foulon.

In this session, Bulegoa z/b revised a selection of material that was in the origins of the project or has been generated along the way. We screened the films Toute Révolution est un coup de dés (1977) by Danièle Huillet and Jean-Marie Straub and Le film à venir (1997) by Raúl Ruiz, and read Jacques Derrida's essay The Book to Come (1997) and the minutes of each session written by members of the reading session. To look at a book slowly and carefully turns the object to be read into an object of study, and those who look into a study group. The Book to Come is once again open to anyone who wants to take part.
